Lee Wetherington was one of three Sarasota citizens who was honored recently with the “Flames of Distinction” award for their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of families in the Sarasota area.
Wetherington is a long time philanthropist who has supported the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota and Manatee Counties, United Way, American Heart Association and Harvest House, among others, throughout the years.
Others who were given the Flames of Distinction were Trevor Harvey, former head of the local chapter of the NAACP, and David Goldman, a local attorney who has been active for many years with local civic organizations.
The annual award is given by the Westcoast Center for Human Development and the Coalition for a Better Family. The ceremony was held at Michael’s On East in Sarasota.
