Homebuyer Highlights: How Star Wars Became a Life-Changing Journey for Charlotte Errity

Star Wars is more than a franchise set within a galaxy far, far away – it’s been at the center of every phase in Charlotte Errity’s life. Now the co-host of Skytalkers, a top Star Wars podcast on numerous platforms, she never could’ve imagined the many doors that would open over the years after being introduced to the original trilogy by her mother, Michele, at age 8. But growing up in the “prequel era,” Charlotte’s love for the franchise truly hit light speed when her father, Mike, took her to a movie theater to see “Revenge of the Sith.”

“From there it was full speed ahead – I couldn’t get enough of the bonus features and behind-the-scenes facts, the story, collecting items, and so much more,” said Charlotte, whose parents are currently designing and building a Lee Wetherington Home in Wild Blue at Waterside. “When we lived in London, I even convinced my parents to visit Lake Como, Italy, to go to a Star Wars filming location.”

Charlotte’s passion for Star Wars didn’t stop at home. She introduced the series to many people, including her best friend, Caitlin Plesher – her Skytalkers co-host. Together, they closely followed every update on the Star Wars universe and looked forward to watching the George Lucas-funded animated series “The Clone Wars” when it aired and were excited once Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012. Both Charlotte and Caitlin realized their detailed discussions about every piece of Star Wars media were worth sharing with the world.

They launched Skytalkers in 2017, eventually skyrocketing to Apple’s No. 1 Star Wars podcast in 2020 and 2021 for its in-depth commentary and thoughtful conversations.

“We saw that there was suddenly a lot to discuss in the Star Wars space and really wanted to be involved in the fan community in any way we could,” said Charlotte. “We also saw a need for a women-hosted Star Wars podcast and for our perspective to be heard.”

The show has since led Charlotte from London to California, Florida and beyond to produce live Skytalkers podcast shows, attend Hollywood premieres of series like Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian” and “Andor,” and interview the galaxy’s well-known actors and producers, including Hayden Christensen, Katee Sackhoff, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. This month, Skytalkers attended Lucafilm’s largest global convention – the sold-out Star Wars Celebration in Chiba, Japan.

But for Charlotte, one of the most significant highlights was accepting an exclusive invitation to join the media “cruise” previewing the Galactic Starcruiser – Walt Disney World’s $1 billion Star Wars hotel that created an immersive experience across every level of its deck.

“We had no idea what to expect as the entire experience was hidden to the public before the event,” said Charlotte. “The hotel and role-playing experience was entirely new and just made for fans like us to live our Star Wars story.”

Charlotte, who lives in New York City, and her parents continue to watch every series when it airs. When a new movie is released, it’s a special occasion to attend the opening night together at a local theater. As for her parents’ custom home, she’s excited that a “movie room” is incorporated – and Star Wars will be the first screening.

For Skytalkers, the conversations live on.

Our goal is to continue to be a very welcoming space for all fans to discuss the franchise that brings us joy,” said Charlotte. “We hope that as Star Wars returns to theaters next year with ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ Star Wars can continue to find new audiences and new generations that maybe can make their way to our podcast.”
