The Typical Timeline For Building a Custom Home
One of the major advantages of building a home with Lee Wetherington Homes is our clients have the flexibility to create their own custom floor plans. After we understand the spaces in the home the client is trying to create, we adjust the design to personalize the home specifically for each client.
Because of that flexibility the early stages or pre-production is a longer period than one would experience when building a production home with a cookie cutter plan that can’t be customized.
Each Lee Wetherington home has its design engineered one time, its trusses designed and engineered one time, the footer locations and load capacities designed and engineered one time. That adds to the time it takes from contract signing to move in, but ultimately the owner moves into a home that’s exactly what they want.
Our smaller home designs in communities like Cypress Glen at River Wilderness are less complicated homes that require about 9-10 months from contract signing to move in. On our typical larger home designs like those in Country Club East, The Lake Club and LakeHouse Cove in Lakewood Ranch and The Founders Club, from contract signing to move in usually takes about 14 months.
The period from initial contract to the start of construction typically is about 3-4 months and the actual construction requires 9-10 months. For those who prefer to forego the construction process, Lee Wetherington Homes has move-in ready homes available at most of our communities.
